Events Login Sign In League Day, November 2, 2017: Practical Remedies for Climate Change and What You Need to Know about Community Choice Aggregation Several strong hurricanes have recently served as reminders that warming waters can cause great destruction, human as well as economic. As global warming continues we risk even more devastating storms. Can we mitigate global warming? Can we do so without creating social and economic chaos? Our November League Day speakers will share with us some thoughts and practical ways we can move toward saving our environment. Dr. John Odell, Professor Emeritus of International Relations at USC and a Senior Fellow of the Centre for International Governance Innovation, will discuss practical remedies for climate change, with an emphasis on economic implications. Our second speaker, from the Los Angeles County Office of Sustainability, Matt Skolnik, will explain a new energy choice system for the county. The Community Choice Aggregation program will allow local boards to have more choice and financial control over energy sources. Mr. Skolnik will explain how this will work and how it will enable investment in renewable energy. Are you ready for some practical information about making significant steps toward saving the environment?
