We need all hands on-deck to help launch 2017-2018 at the League Day, June 8.
The agenda is packed, so registration will begin at 8:30. We will begin the day with remembering Ray Bennett, who dedicated more than 15 hours a week for over 20 years running our office. This will be followed by Annual Meeting business, and our guest speaker Désirée Zamorano.
The morning will be rounded off with a salad luncheon and we will honor Susan Caldwell, who has been a faithful LWV-PA crew member for fifty years.
Annual Meeting business is essential to setting our course. It will include the election of next year’s officers, approval of the budget, proposed changes to the by-laws, and program planning. A quorum of members is needed to make these votes valid, so please don’t go AWOL. We can’t sail the LWV ship without enough crew!
Another good reason to attend is to hear Désirée Zamorano, who will speak on “The Rise of Activism in our Community”. Ms. Zamorano taught in PUSD and now runs the Community Literacy Center at Occidental College as well as being part of the Teacher Education program at CSULB. She is also an accomplished author and activist. She looks forward to sharing her resources and thoughts.
Please join us for this exciting League Day!
